WITHIN THE RUBBLE

 

We are destined to shine even if our lives

may appear to indicate otherwise, even if,

at this time, it is hard to accept the truth,

hard to comprehend why what we do not want,

we often, now, encounter each day.

 

We are destined to flourish even if our dreams

fail to materialize, leaving us often disheartened

with less rather than the more we so rightly deserve,

leaving us perplexed, regarding what we need to

do to clarify our desired intentions.

 

We are destined to excel, to flourish, to shine,

to soar above the current situation, when we realize

that within the perceived rubble exists the very

foundation of all we need to secure the life

of our dreams, beckoning us to sift carefully,

so we might find the key.

PREPARE THE WAY

 

Let us do what must be done,

what needs doing now, as we bring

a quiet order to our existence,

preparing our space, our hearts,

and our minds for the change

that beckons and awaits our full attention.

 

Let us do the essential chores,

as we wait for the larger calling

where mind, and spirit, and heart connect

to sing an anthem of pure inspiration

propelled into action - when the mission

supersedes necessity – where duty

summons our complete focus and energy -

where joy is alive in the becoming.

 

Let us prepare the way and make ready

for this becoming – more than ever once

prevail – prove more powerful than

opposing forces; be victorious.

 

Determination, I believe, is the creative force

of our human existence: the ability to prevail,

to prove more powerful than the opposing forces –

be they fate, nature, lethargy, inner self-doubt,

fear, the opposition of others – well meaning or

just plain malicious.

 

I don’t really believe in, or give much credence to,

purposeful supernatural negative forces, such as

a devil, but I do believe in counter forces, that

every action, positive or negative, is often met

with an opposing action, as life itself resists

change and adaptation.

 

We, humankind, are the rare natural agents

for change and creation within current existence,

other than entropy, which is built into the natural

system.

 

So, how do we prevail? The note below suggests it is

with persistence, with our sights fixed on the goal -

this goal fully imagined and shaped in our thinking,

then held in thought with belief until it, through our

efforts or otherwise, attracts and creates and forms

its likeness.  

  

PERSISTENCE WILL PREVAIL

 

The waves of life at times may pound us,

disrupting our forward progress, thwarting

our planned momentum, yet if we persist

to venture onward with our sights fixed on

the goal – refusing to give up or give in –

persistence will prevail.

 

A thought held firm and not relinquished,

will outlast even a steady torrent of ill

fortune: if believed and held as truth

in prayer – so let us tend and grow

our strong intentions - sure in our

convictions.

 

All that is sure and worthy – our hopes,

dreams and pursuits may find their

form in our imaginings, shaped in our

thinking - held true in our believing,

attracted by our creating – until even

the winds of outrageous fortune fail

to impede our steady endeavors.

TRUE THANKS

Let us turn our thoughts towards gratitude

today, knowing even our most jubilant thanks

falls short of the true worth of this being,

this existence - no momentary, or even

lasting concern casts a shadow upon this,

our very aliveness.

As we prepare to give thanks, feasting

on our very abundance, let us recall that

we are the hands and feet of the divine

based good in the world, recommitting

ourselves to our scared promise,

to love our neighbor as we love ourselves.

So let us look for our opportunity to

return our favor - an act of random

kindness, a gesture of goodwill, a hand

outstretched in a time of need, a word

of endearing encouragement - knowing

true thanks is best expressed with action

in a world so in need of our compassion.

Today, let us not move away from the

possibilities life presents - stepping back

because we are caught off guard, ill

prepared for the “chance” encounter -

and instead, moving forward, take

hold with a firm grasp and a ready heart.

 

As we do, let us embrace the adventures

beckoning us, to jettison our fear and live

more fully, to ride the wave of a fresh

perspective, to offer our souls new

nourishment.

 

So today, let us be vigilant in our being,

careful not to overlook, or underestimate

OUR DETERMINATION

 

The strength of existence lies in determination,

the ability and willingness to continue onward,

forward without delay or hesitation, with a sense

of hope for what may only be a dim notion,

a hunch, an inspiration calling us towards

a greater and more potent good; beckoning us.

 

It is with this element of faith that existence

has been forged and formed, chiseled from

dreams and insights, thoughts and fantasies

alike, causing rational beings to forgo

a cautious now for the prospect of a riskier,

but more worthy tomorrow.

 

Every creative impulse and act is a reflection

of this yearning and learning process,

a bubbling up of possibility persuading our 

smoldering desire to catch flame and ignite,

to form something from an extension

of thought, to use our sweat, our strength,

our determination to fulfill the destiny

of our evermore worthy existence.

I think all of us, at times, approach life

tentatively, like a shy child stepping onto

the stage for the first time, and it is exactly

this hesitant manner that slows our progress,

whittles away our confidence, and leaves

us compromising rather than establishing

our well earned success.

 

Having received the note below titled

Be Expansive, while meditating this morning,

I realize it is time for some self-reflection.  

I am not timid when it comes to pursuing the

larger than life idea/project/dream, but then

I often stuff it into a box that is much too

confining, eventually neutralizing the

idea/project/dream to ensure it is quote –

manageable, feasible, doable – and I am

often content to live within the confines

of this self-created box, even if the final

results are less than desired. Guess it is

time to free my cramped undertakings by 

letting each go free range, thus, in my way,

testing the waters of being expansive.

 

BE EXPANSIVE

 

Allow the fresh ideas to flow today,

opening your consciousness to the vast

possibilities of this existence, be expansive,

shun the limitations real or perceived,

welcome the inspiration, the input,

the guidance available to enhance your

efforts, being bold in this exploration,

brainstorming with the fullness of infinite

intelligence – know you are the conduit

for the creative energy of God: so let

this force that propels all beingness incite

your imagination, let it set flame to your

wonder, embolden your claim to magnificence,

let it breathe the breath of the everlasting into

your perspective; as you grasp the throttle -

the thrust of life stretching to soar unhindered.

Are we, as the note below conveys, in some way

standing in front of our cup of plenty, and not

able to see the truth of our own good fortune 

overflowing?

 

What seems to hold me back at times, from full

belief and acceptance in this Law Of Good, is the

reality of the pain and suffering in my world and

the world at large. It seems illogical to say that 

we are overflowing with good, when this intense

suffering exists in our world, and we are all,

at times, forced to experience some sort of

misery. 

 

But perhaps, all of this suffering, is simply

what occurs in a world that is based on free

will. In fact, do we not actually learn from

our suffering, and as a result, are able to 

adjust and grow, so the next time we are

not in so much pain, or possibly, avoid it

altogether.  

 

My thought here is that the world of good,

and the world of suffering, are not in some

way interrelated in a negative sense, that

is, the existence of one does not, in some

aspect, nullify, or disprove, or impact 

the existence of the other. They are

mutually exclusive.

 

So, let us go forward, with all suffering

aside, grasping for our cup of plenty,

and drink our fill.

 

CUP OF PLENTY

 

Reach inside this day and grasp the good

waiting for you to receive, clear abundant

good flowing in torrents towards you,

requiring only an open heart and a receptive

mind – know this is your birthright,

your perfect gift for being.

 

Realize there is no doubt, fear, or negative

perspective that can impede this flow,

if you in full belief lift your spirit fully

aligned, willing and open to drink from

this cup of plenty – so today turn away

from why not and instead embrace

the everlasting truth.

 

Turn, accept, and receive a good so plentiful,

powerful, and resourceful it will wake you,

refresh you, and carry you to place

of wonder and magnificence, taking you

in due course to a lasting vision of heaven,

here and now and always.

In both our spiritual, as well as our secular

pursuits, it is possible to hit a wall, finding

that the simple act of doing, once energizing

and stimulating is now so routine it has

become almost tedious, frustrating, or

commonplace.

 

At these times, we often survey the situation

and wonder what is happening, when the

beat that once resonated our souls has

become faint and hard to hear.

 

In the years writing this blog and the book, 

I have been no stranger to these moments,

at times fighting the impulse to quit and

move on.

 

As the note here conveys, simply setting

aside a period of rest and reflection,

turning inward, I am able to find the 

renewal that I was seeking, and able to 

continue on with even more enthusiasm.

Often, I discover a fresh approach, or

make a few modifications, that actually

adds something of value to the process.

 

THE BEAT GROWN DISTANT

 

Sometimes when life seems most confusing,

we must simply rest and take a break from

doing, to allow our energy, our enthusiasm

to regenerate, sparking a new and more

vigorous fire within.

Sometimes when we have tread the same

path fully worn, we must simply stop and

reassess what was once new, but is now

all too familiar, sit back and reflect awhile

on our journey, recapturing the purpose

perhaps, or by simply pausing notice a

new adventure waiting for our attention.

Sometimes by simply standing still and

listening to the voice within, we realize

the beat grown distant reminds us of

our original purpose, re-stirs our passion,

awakens our sleeping souls, sending us

on our way to a refreshed and bountiful

tomorrow.

Cooperation is often thought of as a plus rather than

a first gambit in our "current world culture," and then 

only partaken after enormous pain and suffering. 

Game Theory's founders, Neumann and Morgenstern, 

made a distinction between "zero-sum" games where

one person wins, and the other loses - that is, the

fortunes of the players are inversely related, and 

"non-zero sum" games, where one player's gain 

need not be bad news for the other, where a

potential win-win or at least plus-plus exists.

 

It is Robert Wright, in his book titled NONZERO

The Logic Of Human Destiny, who suggests that the

key evolutionary conceptual or meme based learning, 

that is directly responsible for the ascent of human-

kind, is our learning the mutual benefit of a win-win

or non-zero sum existence. It is the advent and 

apparent imitation of this concept that has 

actually propelled our move from fighting for basic

individual survival, to cooperating for mutual benefit

and common survival.   

 

In the note below we are reminded that despite 

what our ego-based thinking may be often telling

us, collective win-win approaches are not only

spiritually valid, but provide the logic for our joint

thriving on an individual, team, organization,

community, and global level. 

 

COLLECTIVE WIN-WIN 

 

Today work to see beyond your own

needs and into the needs of others,

seeing life through their eyes and

perspective, realizing all you encounter

are worthy of consideration as they

pursue life alongside of you.

 

Today consider the advantage to all

of a win-win strategy when every

person involved is ensured of an

opportunity to participate and shape

the process, practice, or outcome for

the mutual benefit of all concerned.

 

Today realize the collective good

truly benefits all equally, causing the

entire team to soar and flourish,

thriving together strengthened by

connecting the concerns, needs,

and perspective of all involved in

one powerful, purposeful intention.
