prepared for the “chance” encounter -

and instead, moving forward, take

hold with a firm grasp and a ready heart.

 

As we do, let us embrace the adventures

beckoning us, to jettison our fear and live

more fully, to ride the wave of a fresh

perspective, to offer our souls new

Let us strive to be our own best friend

today, reaching out to ourselves with

a sense of compassion, cheering ourselves

on when we excel or persevere under difficult

conditions, kindly reminding ourselves

of our potential when we do not.

 

Like a friend, let us avoid pushing ourselves

when we are tired or stressed, realizing our

mental, physical, and spiritual balance hinges

on finding a sensible approach to all we feel

we must accomplish.

 

So let us avoid negative, critical, or harsh

self-talk, and instead, like a caring friend,

let us be benevolent in our own self-appraisal,

reaching out to encourage, motivate, and

invigorate ourselves through positive

reflection and compassionate reinforcement.

As we assess our thoughts today, 

let us realize both positive and

negative sentiments find expression

in our lives, often nullifying what

supportive, positive, and empowering -

SUMMONING CALM

 

Calm. Approaching life with calm,

soothing, comfortable, total calm –

steady, unflappable, stress-free calm –

at times magical, separate, above the

fray, a layer of noncommittal awareness

between the interpretations, perspectives:

calm.

 

Discover a place of calm, refusing to

budge, knowing, engrossed in the calm

no conflict can overcome, no sinister

stress harm, no irate emotion require

retaliation; all is now and forever

eternally and infinitely calm.

 

Like a fortress, let calm shield and

protect, rebuffing friend and foe alike:

for who would invade this serenity

with tribulation, infest this bastion

with care or concern, tear down this

peace with the mundane.

If this day fails to meet your expectations,

know that there is another right behind it,

that may be more to your liking, or one

you will find to be a better fit, possibly

where things go your way,  just naturally,

without a lot of effort or stress.

 

Here lies the real benefit of these

twenty-four-hour segments that repeat

pretty much endlessly – if you miss the

boat or train with one – the next day,

with some minor adjustments, you are

in better sync – on time – and all smiles

perhaps.

 

So, if you find yourself dismayed by some

dangling performance measures, just

jot them down and set the reminder for

tomorrow, and you will have a fresh

new day to attempt accomplishment,

or just calmly wait for the right day

to come along.

as the artist in residence, each of us

must be diligent to protect our most

wonderful creation – to admire its design –

it to flower, to bloom – to be reformed
