In modern life, we are now being, in my
opinion, more frequently confronted
with what appears to be a degeneration
of values. It can be large, like the proposed
building of a future World Cup Football
stadium in Qatar – reportedly requiring
an estimated 4,000 deaths from captive
workers, who must work or perish, with
some hastening the effects of this economic
slavery by plummeting to their own deaths
to escape.
Or possibly, maybe a little less obvious,
but with no less impact, our insatiable
demand for discounted electronics,
clothing, etc., made in foreign working
conditions that would make the sweat-
shops of the American past look like
plush conditions.
More and more, we will be faced, as
individuals, communities, interest groups,
and societies with worthy causes, that as
“spiritual activists,” we must not turn
away from with a deaf ear or a blind
eye, but instead, as noted below, find
the courage to take up this worthy work.
The note below is for all those who are
currently faced with such a cause, or
preparing for such an eventuality,
please know that you are doing God’s
work in the world.
THIS WORTHY WORK
At times we are called upon by our
very own sense of justice and right;
to proceed with personal clarity,
unwavering determination, and
inner courage, realizing full well
no ramification, or outcome, will
deter our course of action.
It is at these times, even though our
hearts may flutter and our hands
tremble, we are most authentically
alive, in lockstep and unison with
the very universal good that now
supports us, protects us, and
ensures our purpose is fulfilled.
As what awaits must surely unfold,
know we are not alone, standing
with us is a host of divine forces,
a legion of angels, well prepared
to see us successfully through this
worthy work, and with us every
ardent step of the way, until the
shofar announces that justice has
been reclaimed.
