FEASIBILITY - THE STATE OR DEGREE OF BEING
EASILY OR CONVENIENTLY DONE.
Today's ratcheted up workplace has left the
concept of "feasibility" in the rearview mirror,
as most organizations step into continual
overdrive for survival, competitive edge, or
just plain fear.
Limited resources, especially manpower,
have become the condition to emulate,
rather than avoid, leaving an exhausted
worker bee world trying to keep from being
trampled by the progressively accelerating
treadmill.
Sometimes the right message appears just
when it is needed, to remind us that there
may be a better way or approach. Yesterday
morning, I transcribed the Affirmative
Thought below for Ann, titled Feasibility,
after she had left home early for a morning
run with her friend and then off to work.
Although I wondered whether the note
would fit for Ann, I decided to email it to
her anyway and let her make her own
determination. About an hour later, I
received the following email response
from Ann:
OMG! I was in a panic because my
computer had a problem and I have
papers everywhere and I was ready
to scream and then.....your note and
I am calm now. I am not going to
exacerbate my plight.... I will calmly
do one thing at a time.
For Ann, the note seems to have provided
some useful guidance to see her through a
difficult day - she took a mindful step back
when all seemed to be falling apart, refused
to exacerbate the condition with a full-fledged
meltdown, and chose instead to work within
the realm of her own "feasibility."
When Ann returned home from work, she
suggested that I publish and share this note,
possibility reminding others that "feasibility"
is not an archaic thought.
I have wrapped up this the post with
Ann's note for today, titled Sure and
Steady, that will hopefully reinforce
this theme.
FEASIBILITY
Let us patiently reflect on what needs
our immediate attention today, avoiding
the tendency to exaggerate or exacerbate
our plight, to increase our stress or tension,
and instead, commit to doing everything
within our feasible ability to handle –
nothing more, nothing less.
Let us patiently proceed with a workable
pace, focused but not frenzied, as we
attack, or better yet, calmly approach
our to-do list one entry at a time, knowing
we have what is needed to proceed,
to successfully handle this, and if need be,
do even more.
Let us patiently approach our challenge
today realizing haste often does truly
result in wasted effort, and choose
instead to adopt an attitude of
competent commitment, knowing
we are at the helm because we are
fully capable of the work we confront,
selected for our experience, our value,
and our expertise.

SURE AND STEADY
As we pursue the goals of this day,
let us aim for sure and steady progress,
realizing all things will be handled
in turn without thoughtless confusion
or ill-advised panic, but accomplished
with clear conviction and a sound
determination.
As we pursue these goals, let us not
forget to lead the way with compassion
and kindness, for those who follow or
will be impacted, as we remind ourselves
that we too deserve a similar treatment,
making even this work fun using plenty
of love, recognition, and smiles to
lighten the load.
As we pursue today, let us be thankful
for even this opportunity to do
meaningful and essential work, to test
our limits as we hone our skills, feeling
the sweet pleasure of a useful life and
a job well done, able to walk away when
finished - gratified, inspired, and proud!
